How long will the sausage last in the fridge?

Homemade sausages

Homemade sausages

The average recommendation is 3 days (as all the ingredients are fresh) and up to 6 months in the freezer – that’s if you don’t eat them before then of course!

The beauty of making your own sausages is they will be filled with pure goodness.  Ingredients you have sourced and a sausage you have made yourself.  You have the beauty of knowing exactly what is inside, where the meat has come from and also how and where the ingredients have been stored.

Mass manufactured sausages will contain shelf life enhancers (we don’t need these because we can pop them in the freezer for a longer shelf life) and colourants – these are used to help the sausages  retain their colour when they are sat on shop shelves for a while – after all customers do tend to buy with their eyes – attractive packaging is also a great aid to this.

So roll up your sleeves and have fun sausage making!
